New House Pics

We spent most of the weekend renting a truck, driving down to Greenville and picking up our new furniture that has finally come in...including our new Amish built king sized bed and television stand, a new couch and a new queen sized bed frame for the guest room. Here are some pictures. Now I am going to go collapse in my new, pillow-top bed :)

Cold Morning

It's 26 right now. We are still in that early Spring pattern here in the NC mountains where we will have a few days of truly spring weather, then a cold front will come through and bring us cold nights and cool days. They say we will only get up to about 41 today...possibly with some snow. Later this week, back up to the upper 60's.

Such is life in the mountains this time of the year. The tree's are starting to bud however...and some flowers are already starting to show up. I am ready for the green to return.

It will also be interesting to see just how hot it gets in the summer here in Henson Cove. This will be my first summer living in the new house and we have no A/C. My guess will be the constant winds will keep things nice and cool.

Wind, Wind, Wind

Another windy night and day here in Henson Cove. I have never lived anyplace with so much wind. Even on days when the forecast is calling for little or no wind, it comes whipping though the valley at about 10-12 miles an hour. Last night I clocked guests at 60 mph.

My wife and I have plans to add a 10kw wind turbine in the next few years. We should be able to generate all of the power we need most of the time and sell a substantial amount of power back to the power company. The NC Green Power program will give us an extra premium on the kw hours we sell back as well. We should actually make a nice net profit by the end of each year.

Rain and wind on tap for today. Seems like the norm recently. Hopefully this will continue through summer and we can avoid yet another dry, drought stricken year.
