Not Too Hot

Yesterday was beautiful. Not too hot at all and a nice break from the heat we had last week. It is still in the 80's, but not bad at all for June. I was able to get my south lawn mowed yesterday and I will try to get the much smaller west lawn mowed before we go to Asheville this afternoon.

The weekend is looking great. Thunderstorms on Saturday, but we need the rain.

Beautiful Morning

I have recently begun working for our sister company doing morning tech support from our office in Sylva. They are based in San Jose, CA so I cover what would be the early morning hours for them. Because of this, I have begun coming into work at 8am instead of 10...so I have to leave the house at 7. Things seem to be a lot different at that hour. more quiet, misty...really pretty. Here are some pictures I took at the house this morning before I left.

Emu Tries to Eat the Camera

Lauren and I were visiting my parents' emus at their farm near Charlotte before heading back home on Sunday evening. Never get to close to these curious birds. Make sure you watch the entire video :)

The low rumble is my truck in the background. It was 100 degrees so I wanted to leave the AC running.

So, So Hot

How hot can it be today? 101 F. in Fort Mill, South Carolina just south of Charlotte. It is going to be a hot one today. So much so that Lauren, Gavin and I are going to stay here at my parent's house where we have A/C until after dark, when it is much cooler.

I can't wait until the heat breaks later this week.

It's Friday!

Just sitting here in my office in Sylva waiting for 5pm to roll around. It has been a pretty brutal week...but it is almost over, thank god.

Lauren, Gavin and I are heading down to Charlotte to visit my folks this weekend. We are celebrating Mothers Day, Fathers Day and my Mom's birthday, all-in-one. Since gas is so expensive now and since they live 3 and a half hours away, we have to kill a few birds with one stone.

Speaking of gas? $3.96 a gallon here now. Once of the tourist gas stations out on the highway is at $3.99 but I have not yet seen $4. It may be because they are a little apprehensive to push past that barrier because of the backlash it would create...but I have also heard many gas stations can not charge more than $3.99 because of some sort of computer limitation. I am sure they will get that fixed ASAP :)

Well, I guess I will chill out until it is all over today...sit here listening to Sirius' Big 80's.
